The best chocolate, chocolate chip cake

This is to die for...
1 chocolate cake mix (I used devil's food)
1 small package instant chocolate pudding mix
1/4C flour
1/2C oil
1C water
4 eggs
8oz sour cream
6oz chocolate chips
Combine dry cake mix, pudding and flour. Stir to blend. Add oil, water, eggs and sour cream. Mix at medium speed for 2 minutes or until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour into greased 9x13 pan or a buttered and cocoa powdered bundt pan and bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes or until done. Do Not Overbake.

Now, you could just top this with powdered sugar.
Or you could serve with a dollop of whipped cream.
OR you could top it with THIS Thanks to Lanna for giving this to Adrienne who then gave it to me. Adrienne whipped the ganache for the cake in a 9x13 pan and said it was awesome. I used a bundt pan and did not whip it so the ganache would pour over the cake and it was also awesome. We both used semi-sweet instead of bittersweet chocolate. Lanna used half semi-sweet and milk chocolate. Go according to your taste of darkness.
Be sure to have milk on hand because you're gonna need it!

  1. Okay, seriously?? You put all of us to shame! I'm amazed at your time management skills. I get to like 5:30-6 pm and I'm like, 'hmmm, what am I going to make for dinner?' Then it usually ends up being frozen chicken nuggets or quesodillas. I'm a loser! It all (well everything but the fish-I still can't do it) looks amazing! Good on you!

  2. Actually, I whipped the ganache for a round layered cake. Your cake looks fabulous! That is Lee's favorite cake and it isn't his birthday without it!

  3. Okay, so just yesterday I was telling the check out lady at target about this cake, and she asked me if I would bring the recipe in next time I was there! (So sad that I shop at Target so much that the check out lady knows me:) This is truely the best cake EVER! You MUST try it with the whipped gnache, it's amazing! I doubled the gnache recipe for the layered round cake so that there was plenty. I also piped it on in little stars, and it look very elegant, and took no time at all!
